Jewelry is extremely sentimental, and is often passed down generation to generation. But sometimes modifications are needed to make that jewelry work for a new wearer.
In this case, a gentleman’s mother passed down her stunning diamond ring to her daughter-in-law.
The diamond was 4.25 ct., which of course is quite sizable.
It was also set quite high, so the daughter-in-law was afraid to wear it, even if it was sized properly to her finger. She was afraid she’d damage the stone.
We worked with her to design a new mounting that would keep the stone secure, and provide peace of mind while wearing the diamond.
Our Goldsmith set the diamond a six prong platinum solitaire setting, with a wider band to balance the size of the diamond.
When diamonds are this size, it's natural for gravity to try and pull them down. That creates spinning, but a wider band can help balance that out, keeping the diamond upward facing.
It also sits as low as possible, to avoid getting caught on something, or knocked around during everyday wear.
