Over the years, we often have clients come to us with jewelry boxes overflowing with pieces. It may seem like it's hard to wear all your jewelry—either because there's so much of it, or because some pieces have broken over the years. Still, odds are you remember where or when you got each piece. A treat after a bonus, a gift for a birthday or anniversary—so many special memories. It's hard to let all that go. That's often when we think about creating a new piece out of what you already have.
One of our long-time clients came to us with this heap of jewelry. A collection of pieces broken, or no longer worn, but loaded with sentimental value. She wanted to keep them all, but she wanted to actually wear them, not just look at them in a jewelry box.
She told our designer she wanted something wearable—perhaps a ring. She wanted something low profile, that didn't sit too high up. The goal was to have a fashionable yellow gold piece. We removed several diamonds from her collection of old pieces, measuring each and thinking about a design that may work.
Our designer, realizing the stones were all different sizes, worked on an arrangement that would be visually interesting, but also practical.
We landed on this fun right hand ring. A total of 9 diamonds, each bezel set, that spread nicely along the finger. Our Goldsmith handmade each bezel using her gold, with the largest in the center. The smaller stones fan out in each direction from that focal point.
