As far as colored gemstones go, Tanzanite is a relative new kid on the block.
It was first discovered in the late 1960s, and so far it has only been found in one part of the world: near Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
The stone ranges in color from vibrant violets and rich purples to lush blues.
At our upcoming “Spring into Color” gem show, you’ll have the opportunity to view the stone in all sorts of shapes and colors. Gems, particularly colored stones, are best viewed and assessed in person. Each has its own personality, and handles the light differently.
This stunning tanzanite necklace is a custom creation that we worked on for months, stemming from our last gem show. During that event, the client worked with one of our design specialists to select the stone. It’s a beautiful 3.89 ct. trillion shaped Tanzanite.
Over the course of many weeks we discussed the type of piece he wanted to create. The winning design was a necklace which he could present as a Christmas gift to his wife. Our Goldsmith custom made the white gold setting housing the stone, based on sketches from our designer. The pendant was placed on a 17” wheat chain.
If you would like to make an appointment to view stones for one of your potential custom designs, make an appointment for our “Spring into Color” event on Friday April 29 or Saturday April 30! We’ll be showcasing tanzanite, blue zircon, tourmaline, as well as sapphires in all shapes and sizes, including teal, blue, yellow, and orange!
