While people regularly change their hair style, or freshen up their closet, there is sometimes a stigma around the notion of changing an engagement ring.
There shouldn’t be!
It’s totally normal for your jewelry style to change. Embrace it!
Plus, there are plenty of ways to maintain the sentimental attachment to these special pieces, while still achieving a whole new look.
Take this engagement ring, for example. A client came to us with this oval sapphire, surrounded by a halo of diamonds in a floral pattern. This is sometimes called a “Princess Diana” style, because it so closely resembles what she wore.
The client wanted something more contemporary looking. After working with our design specialist she opted to have the sapphire set east-west, a much more modern look. A diamond was set on either side of the sapphire—one came from her mother-in-law. We matched and supplied the other stone. The small diamonds down the shank came from the halo of her original engagement ring.
Then, to complete the set, we created a new wedding band using diamonds from her original channel set band.
By incorporating so many sentimental stones, the memories of the original pieces live on, just in a new way that the client is thrilled to wear.
