We like to think of our store as a window to the world.
The merchandise you’ll find in our showcases has been expertly crafted using the finest materials from across the globe. Not only that, but we work tirelessly to ensure we offer both classic pieces of jewelry that can transcend time, and also pieces that are fashion statements for this moment.
To keep up with that ever changing fashion, we hit the road.
Earlier this month I visited Milan, widely regarded as one of the fashion capitals of the world.
A few clear trends stood out to me, walking through fashion house boutiques. You’ll see these trends reflected in our selection of jewelry offered for holiday gift giving season.
1. It’s (Still) All About Yellow
For the last several years, yellow gold has made a strong comeback. It doesn’t appear to be letting up yet.
On the wrist that means more link style bracelets—bold, open oval links, or a tighter link style like a Cuban or curb.
On the ear hoops and studs, layered together along multiple piercings, are still must have pieces.
2. Fun Shapes
Gone are the days of simply using round stones. This season, shapes are huge. Pear shapes, ovals, marquise—all blended together!
What just a few seasons ago may have looked disorganized or too abstract is now considered fun and unique.
3. Bold Color
Jewelry should reflect your personality, and there’s no better way to do that than with color.
Milan was full of dramatic colored gems, sourced from around the world. Stunning emeralds and sapphires, particularly in necklaces and rings, can grab the attention of a passerby across a room.
We’ve certainly already seen this trend at Hingham Jewelers. So many of our clients want gorgeous rings—but not just any ring. They want to be involved in hand-selecting a gem themselves, understanding where each comes from, and why different regions of the world produce different shades of color, or qualities. It makes the piece so much more meaningful!
4. Pearls are Huge
Once considered grandmotherly, pearls are having a moment. Like, a big moment.
Across all age groups pearls are exploding in popularity. They’re classic, so why not!
Pearl studs, pearl strands, or gold pieces with a pearl accent. All great, very affordable options.
And in Milan, all genders are jumping on the pearl train. Yes, that includes men.
So far the United States has been slow to embrace pearls as a gender neutral fashion piece, but Europeans are all in.
October and early November is prime time at Hingham Jewelers. We have our best selection of the entire year, as we gear up for the holidays. Stop in, or browse online, to update your wish list, whether it’s to include a traditional piece of jewelry, or something more fashion forward as we’ve outlined here.
We can’t wait to see you!
