đ What We Wear Wednesdays, featuring Emily!
Emily is a veteran in the jewelry industry, and highlighting her personal favorites inspired a walk down memory lane.
On her right hand, she wears a diamond eternity band which belonged to her Nana.
Emily remembered, âPapa loved nothing better than stopping into a local store and buying her jewelry, and she had many beautiful pieces as a result. When she passed and her jewelry was divided between her two daughters, my sister, and myself, this ring fit me perfectly.â
Since she enjoys wearing âcolorâ, her engagement ring is an oval aquamarine (also her birthstone), and her wedding band was an introduction to rose gold, set with aquamarines and London blue topaz.
Emilyâs lab grown diamond studs were a gift to herself for a milestone birthday, also something she wears nearly every day as well as on stage while performing with her band.
The final stop on âmemory laneâ is a nod to John Lewis, the first jeweler she worked for. Mr. Lewis was an independent designer who was a fixture on Newbury St from 1974 to 2018 and while she wears these pieces occasionally, she treasures having a piece of his legacy (John passed in 2019 and the business closed, even the building has been entirely demolished so the jewelry is all thatâs left).

đ Eternity bands, made in the USA! An eternity band features stones that go around the entire ringâthey can be any shape or size! The allure: you see diamonds everywhere! Weâve seen an interest in fancy shape diamond eternity bands in the last few years, as people fall in love with different curves and angles that fancy shapes offer. This oval diamond eternity band is crafted in yellow gold, while this second band boasts baguette diamonds set in a channel. Channel set bands do offer a bit more security, with metal protecting both sides of the stones. That can offer peace of mind when wearing these beauties, which do require extra care and upkeep. These rings, made to order and for our showcase, are crafted in Los Angeles đșđž

đ So youâre ready to get engagedâwhat next? We hear this all the time. âWhatâs normal?â The beauty of an engagement ring is that there is no normal! It should be special for your relationship! But we get it, people like to know what others do. So here is a general overview of what we see. đ©ââ€ïžâđš To start, more than 90% of people exchange a ring when theyâre engaged. Some couples exchange two rings so neither partner misses out! đ Round and oval are generally the most popular shape for center stones. đŹ About 70% of proposers say itâs important to see rings and diamonds in person before making a decision. And yes, a lot of couples come in together! After that initial visit we keep good notes on preferences, so the proposer can operate on his or her own without having to stress that theyâre going to pick a ring their partner loves! â° More than half of proposers spend 1-4 months picking or creating their perfect ring. Some spend even more time to design the ring just the way they want! Our interactive design studio offers a terrific opportunity to create the ring of your dreams! Seen here: diamonds of different shapes to fuel your inspiration!

đ Our most popular fancy diamond shape isâŠOVAL Historically round is the most popular engagement ring shape used in our rings. But in the last six months, in terms of fancy non-round stones, oval has taken the top spot! This oval is just over 2 carats. Itâs set in a platinum ring accented with a halo of round diamonds, and diamond accents down each side of the ring. Most of the engagement rings we create are custom designed, allowing you to choose each detail of your dream đ And donât be overwhelmed by those choices! Our team will walk you through everything that can be customized, showing you the options in our interactive design studio. Allow 4-6 weeks, on average, for your ring to be designed and created, so now is the time to start thinking ahead for a summer proposal!

đ What We Wear Wednesdays, featuring Joe! Joe, our Manager, has been in the jewelry industry for 42 years; there is a wealth of knowledge and sentiment behind his personal jewelry selections. He fondly remembers the back story of each piece he wears. When he got married 38 years ago, his wife surprised him with his gift in time for him to wear at their wedding: a matched set with a ring, tie tack and cuff links. Today, he regularly wears the diamond and yellow gold pinky ring, and the cuff links on occasion. Years later, they upgraded Donnaâs engagement ring diamond, and used her original stone in a vintage-like belcher-set gold ring Joe also wears on his right hand. On his left ring finger, Joe wears a diamond wedding band which was a 20th anniversary gift from his wife. One of his favorite pieces is a Corum âlarge dateâ automatic watch, a gift he âgave himselfâ after working with luxury watch brands over many years. Joe selected the timepiece because of itâs unique dial color and outstanding quality of the Swiss watchmakerâs products. Weâre curious... What jewelry pieces have you âgifted yourselfâ ?

đ 5 carats! Um, yes please! These 5.04 ct. natural diamond studs are GORGEOUS. We love studs because you can wear them all the timeâcasually, or dressed up. Look how nicely these look on the ear layered up with huggies, too. Interestingly enough, the price of natural diamonds has dropped recently. Diamond prices do fluctuate regularly, but this drop is a little more noticeable than usual. Stop by to try these on!

Michael joins Hingham Jewelers as its third-generation, following years of working as a meteorologist in local television news. While it may seem counterintuitive to go from television back to the family business, Michael explains that fundamentally his mission in each job is the same: describe something scientifically complex, and make it easy to understand for a non-scientist.

Founded in 1948, Hingham Jewelers is now in its third-generation as a family-owned business, offering exceptional jewelry services to the South Shore, including custom design and repair. The businesses was founded in Downtown Hingham in 1948, but moved to South Hingham on Route 53 after a devastating fire hit Hingham Square in 1988. Stacey, daughter of founders Helen and Angelo, took over the business at that point. Her husband, Dave, eventually joined her. Now, about 30 years later, their son Michael Page takes over the business as generation number three.
