We are proud to offer various services at Hingham Jewelers, including custom design.
One of our specialities is reworking old, unworn pieces into something entirely new and fresh.
This project is a great example of how that works.
Take a look at what we started with—a heap of jewelry accumulated over the years.
Some pieces were gifts, others were inherited. Much of it, our client felt, was outdated.
Using what she had, we made three entirely new pieces.
Bezel Necklace
The first piece we made was this stunning yellow gold necklace.
It features a bezel set round diamond in the center. That diamond came from our client’s former three-stone ring. We supplied small round accent diamonds for the halo around the center, to add extra sparkle. There is a small rope trim around the pendant, which pairs beautifully with the rope chain through which the pendant slide.
You’ll also notice subtle scroll work on the sides of the pendant, which adds a nice finishing touch.
Bangle Bracelet
Our Goldsmith also crafted a yellow gold slip on bangle for this client.
We were able to use the gold from old pieces she wasn’t wearing any longer. That included a family charm bracelet, as well as her original engagement ring.
We sprinkled a few small diamonds into the bracelet, which all came from those same unworn pieces. A few of the diamonds also came from an old watch.
New Ring
The final piece we created was a new custom made ring.
The entire piece was built around the center stone. She loved stones with blue and green shading, so we sourced several options. We landed on this Blue Topaz.
Once we had the center stone selected, our designers went to work crafting the details of the ring. We featured a trilogy symbol on either side, to represent herself, her husband, and her son. We also placed a diamond on each side of the center stone—those diamonds came from her former three stone. Remember, we used the center diamond in the necklace we made.
She wanted a vintage feel, so we added extra scroll work and detail around the ring. We also made sure it was thicker, since she wanted a chunky feel.
Originally she requested that the side stones be bezel set, but after consulting with our designers, she opted for a double prong setting style to ensure the stones sit properly.
