During this pandemic we have seen a lot of things change, and some very strong trends emerging.
It is certainly safe to say that people are ready to get back to building their jewelry collection. With vacations cancelled, and dinner out not what it used to be, people are finding themselves with some extra disposable income.
They are realizing that whether working from home, homeschooling, or running to the grocery store their jewelry is something that is bringing them joy.
In times of uncertainty jewelry can reflect how people are feeling. I think during this craziness people have reverted to a slower, more traditional time. We have realized what really matters, and those things that provide us a sense of security.
With that in mind, classics are back.
Diamond solitaires, diamond studs, and diamond bands have been very strong.
We have also seen a very strong uptick in personalized jewelry (think name necklaces, personalized charms, and even signet rings).
Custom jewelry has spiked as people want to have a piece that is either unique to them or incorporates pieces from family members.
Engagements are surging. I believe people who may have put off getting engaged realize now is the time. Although traditional weddings have changed people are adapting to smaller celebrations realizing that what is important is the actual declaration of love.
Yellow gold remains strong even with the increase in price.
Since so many people were stuck home jewelry boxes were organized and some good old school pieces have been resurrected.
Layering continues to be a consistent trend as “the neck mess” can be seen on many celebrities. It often allows for an update of a piece clients have had for years. Throw in a little layering and it changes the entire look of a piece.
None of us can do the things we normally do this summer. Travel, large parties, and even the treat of dining out is limited. Now is the perfect time to choose a piece of jewelry that can provide a little joy each day.
Perhaps you missed a birthday celebration or anniversary. Now is the perfect time for a “redo” or makeup gift.
We are all looking for a little joy these days. We would love to be a part of it for you.
