It was November 1913. At that time, weather forecasts are all but useless.
Without appropriate warning, a historic storm slams the Great Lakes with hurricane-like winds. It becomes known as the 'White Hurricane.'
The storm remained seared into the memories of those who lived it, and it sparked meteorological advances that improved forecasting for the future.
Now, more than a century later, the storm is being remembered by Shinola.
The Detroit-based company released the 'White Hurricane', the newest timepiece in its Runwell family, this fall.
The watch is assembled in Detroit using Swiss parts.
It boasts a 48mm titanium case, and offers an interchangeable black rubber strap. It can be worn in the water, and features a full Swiss Super-Lumi Nova dial, turning the watch into a beacon for future bad weather.
