Between personal jewelry accumulated over the years, and jewelry inherited, at some point many people find themselves with "too much" jewelry.
That's how this client felt, motivating her to launch a custom design project. She wanted to combine dozens of stones she had, along with old gold, to make just two pieces she could wear and love.
She met with our design team for an initial consultation. She was very open to their suggestions. Given the number of stones she had available to use, our designer suggested a bangle bracelet and a pendant.
Part 1: The Bangle
The first part of this project was the bangle. Bangles are great for daily wear because they are hard and durable. They also offer, in this case, a lot of space to set stones.
Our team methodically measured each of the stones our client had, then went to work on a computer rendering to show her how the bracelet would look.
The focal point of the bangle would be three larger sapphires she had in the collection. Two were oval, one a pear. Small round diamonds would be sprinkled all over the bangle for added sparkle.
We'd finish the bangle with two safety clasps, to ensure the bracelet is secure.
After seeing the rendering, the client excitedly approved the design. From there we created the bangle, and then had our Goldsmith hand set each of the stones in the bracelet.
It came out absolutely beautiful!
In this photo you can see how the stones go all the way around, and are secured with the double figure-8 style safety clasp.
Part 2: The Pendant
The next phase of this project, which spanned weeks, was the pendant. Our designer came up with a classic circle design--again, providing space to set several stones. For this piece we used diamonds and rubies, as well as a lab-grown yellow diamond created from the ashes of our client's pet. Obviously this is a highly sentimental piece.
The gold from this pendant came from "old" gold that the client had. Our Goldsmith was able to repurpose and recycle it into this new piece.
These two unique pieces allowed our client to use stones she had accumulated over the years, and that she had inherited from her mother, all while cleaning up her jewelry box!
